Hacks for Men to Live Healthier Lives

We all know that it’s common for men to skip the doctor until they become sick, injure themselves or are faced with a serious health problem. And a majority of men will postpone seeking care for a few days to see whether they feel any better.

But there are steps men can take today to improve their vitality and help prevent health problems down the road. Of course, there are some things that can’t be changed, such as family history and age, but every day choices can have a big impact on their current and future health.

The following below are hacks for men to stay healthy;

  1. Regular Exercise

Engage in regular physical activity to maintain a healthy weight, improve cardiovascular health, and reduce the risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Do at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week. Exercises can also be spread evenly over 4 to 5 days a week. Also, reduce time spent sitting or lying down and break up long periods of not moving with some activity.

2. Balanced Diet

Consume a healthy and balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoid excessive intake of processed foods, sugary drinks, and unhealthy fats.

3. Regular Check-ups

Schedule regular visits to your healthcare provider for preventive screenings, vaccinations, and overall health check-ups. Maintain a good relationship with your doctor to discuss any concerns or symptoms.

4. Limit alcohol consumption

Excessive alcohol consumption can negatively impact your health, leading to liver disease, hypertension, heart problems, and addiction issues. It’s recommended to drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, spread across 3 days or more. That’s around 6 medium (175ml) glasses of wine, or 6 pints of 4% beer. There’s no completely safe level of drinking, but sticking within these guidelines lowers your risk of harming your health.

5. Regular sleep routine

Aim for 7-8 hours of quality sleep each night. Establishing a regular sleep schedule can improve overall health, cognitive function, and mood.

6. Stay hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to maintain proper hydration, support organ function, and boost overall health. You should drink plenty of fluids such as water and fruit juice to stay hydrated. The key is to drink regularly throughout the day (at least 6-8 glasses). If you’re active, or if the weather is particularly hot, there’s a greater risk that you will become dehydrated

7. No smoking

Quit smoking or avoid starting to reduce the risk of numerous health problems, including lung cancer, heart disease, stroke, and respiratory disorders.
